Volunteers needed for research study on lymphoedema of the arm
St George’s Hospital Medical School are seeking volunteers who
have lymphoedema of the arm following breast cancer treatment.
This is for a research study forming part of a Wellcome Trust funded
project headed by Professor Peter Mortimer. We are investingating
the mechanism underlying the development of arm swelling following
removal or irradiation of lymph nodes from under the arm. We would
appreciate hearing from you if you have breast cancer-related
lymphoedema, are aged 40-80 and generally fit and well. The research
involves a short visit to St George’s Hospital in south west London
(so that we can look at your arms) followed by the study itself,
carried out a the Hammersmith Hospital in west London. This takes 5
hours and all travelling expenses will be reimbursed.
